资源简介:
In October 1997, St. Louis District personnel visited the Oklahoma Archaeological Survey in Norman and the Oklahoma State Historic Preservation Office in Oklahoma City to research archaeological and historic buildings survey work conducted on National Guard facilities in the state. This document reports the history of cultural investigations on five federally owned or federally supported OKARNG facilities, lists archaeological sites and historic buildings recorded within facility boundaries, discusses historic contexts and predictive models, and provides a list of Native American tribes that may be culturally affiliated to archaeological collections recovered from OKARNG facilities. To date, 79 historic properties, including prehistoric and historic archaeological sites, historic buildings, and isolated artifact finds have been recorded on Camp Gruber. Five historic buildings have been recorded on Whitaker Education and Training Center, and two historic buildings have been recorded on Davis Air Field. No archaeological or historical work has been undertaken for Lexington Army Aviation Facility. No cultural properties located on OKARNG facilities have been listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The extent, nature, and location of archaeological collections recovered from work conducted on OKARNG facilities will be determined in the second phase of this project, to be completed during Fiscal Year 1999.
