Methodological Failures in the Scientific Debunking of Astrology: A Critical Audit

A methodological audit of the principal scientific studies cited in the debunking of astrology. This paper does not assess whether astrology is valid. It applies the philosophy of science’s own standards of rigour to the debunking literature itself, identifying recurring failures in construct validity, ecological validity, researcher literacy, and categorical misapplication of replication frameworks. Studies audited include Carlson (1985), Dean and Kelly (2003), and the meta-analytic literature aggregating approximately 300 empirical papers.
