Bacterial communities of the earthworm Eisenia fetida fed with cow manure and brewers spent grains

The aim of this work was to investigate the bacterial communities of the earthworm Eisenia fetida fed with three different rearing substrates: 100% brewers' spent grains (BSG), 100% cow manure (CM) and a mix made of 50% BSG + 50% CM. Paired-end Illumina MiSeq sequencing of V3 and V4 hyper-variable regions of bacterial 16S rRNA (16S) was used to define the microbial communities in the earthworm's casts after 4 month of acclimatization period.
