Dataset of quantifying plantar flexor muscles stiffness during passive and active force generation

Shear wave ultrasound elastography (SWE) is a technique used to quantify the material properties ofboth healthy and pathological muscles, such as paretic muscles. While numerous studies haveinvestigated passive muscle stiffness using SWE and reported high stiffness in paretic muscles, theeffect of stroke on muscle stiffness under active conditions remains limited and contradictory.The data presented in this article aim to explore the mechanical properties of paretic and healthymuscles during active force generation and the distribution of active stiffness between thegastrocnemius lateralis (GL) and gastrocnemius medialis (GM) during contraction. Shear waveultrasound images were acquired for these two plantar flexor muscles at different levels of maximalvoluntary isometric contraction of the plantar flexors (30%, 50%, 70%, and 100%)
