From its beginnings the church in Jerusalem has been the center and core of the whole Christianity. Despite the persecutions and the unfavorable economic situation during the reign of Roman procurators (44–66 AD), this congregation retained unquestionable authority in the fast-growing Church for nearly forty years. After the First Jewish–Roman War (66–73 AD) its influence however had disappeared and information about its further existence is rather scarce. This article attempts to answer the questions: what impact on the church of Jerusalem had: 1) Roman procurators in the province of Judea; 2) the family of the high priest Hannah; 3) the First Jewish–Roman War?
