Human inflammatory mucosal T cells in the female reproductive tract are poised to participate in immunity to infection

The hypothesis is that HIV affects TRM, by decreasing their numbers and possibly affecting their function. In order to be able to analyse several HIV+ and HIV- samples, we would need to identify some markers for TRM that can be used for flow cytometry-based detection of TRM. Overall design: To characterize TRM, we will use a RNA seq approach, in order to identify new markers for CD8+ TRM in human tissues. We will compare CD69+, CD69+ CD103+ and CD69- CD103- populations in the tissue and effector memory T cells, as well as CD69+ T cells in the blood.
