Bacillus methanolicus Genome sequencing and assembly

This project focuses on the generation of an evolved Bacillus methanolicus strain with enhanced glutamic acid production, achieved through induced mutagenesis. Metabolic engineering enabled the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) from glutamic acid in fed-batch fermentations. Whole-genome sequencing of engineered strains was used to identify the genetic variants responsible for their improved biosynthetic capabilities.
