资源简介:

Tree nail from the wreck of the Earl Of Abergavenny. ID: EOA: to be generated. Collection: Earl of Abergavenny Classification: Ship's structure/function Measurements: to be measured Date made: as yet unknown Display: not on display Manufacturer/Creator: as yet unknown Credit: Portland Museum Trust Wooden dowels or tree nails were used to join parts of the ship's outer planking to the frames and ribs of the main hull. They were used alongside copper nails often in a ratio of two to one. During construction it appears that the holes for the nails were drilled blind, as many missed the frames they were intended to secure the planking to.
