"Quantum computers pose a serious threat to conventional public-key cryptography, motivating the adoption of post-quantum schemes such as Kyber. Resource-constrained devices, however, face challenges in sustaining the added computational cost. This paper implements and evaluates single-core and multicore variants of Kyber on the Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W (RP2350A), with emphasis on runtime and energy efficiency. Across parameter sets, multicore key generation reduces runtime by \u223c30%, while encapsulation and decapsulation gain 3\u20138%. Power measurements show total energy consumption decreases by 8.9\u201310.9% despite a 1.3\u00d7 increase in transient peak current, yielding an overall \u223c17% efficiency gain per operation. These results demonstrate that multicore parallelism can both accelerate and reduce energy cost of PQC on low-power microcontrollers, provided that regulator headroom accommodates transient peaks. The findings support Kyber\u2019s suitability for duty-cycled and battery-powered IoT nodes and motivate further optimization of post quantum cryptography (PQC) workloads on constrained multicore platforms."
