Gene database of Danio rerio

<i>Danio rerio</i> (also known as zebrafish) is a commonly used vertebrate model organism in drug development, and in studies of tissue regeneration. More importantly, transgenic versions of the organism are available for use in experiments seeking to correlate genetic endowment with observable phenotypes. This work sought to provide fundamental information about <i>D. rerio</i> by parsing its annotated genome information downloaded from GenBank through an in-house MATLAB genome analysis software. Comprising gene name, gene function, and gene sequence of all genes in the genome of <i>D. rerio</i>, the dataset should find use in guiding genetics experiments seeking to correlate genetic endowment with phenotypes.
