Antioxidant activities of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl by Phaffia rhodozyma and Rhodopseudomonas palustris

Objective To study the scavenging activities of Phaffia rhodozyma and Rhodopseudomonas palustris on DPPH free radicals. Methods The DPPH free radical method was used to study the difference in the scavenging ability of the whole cells and ethanol extracts of two microorganisms. Results R. palustris showed much higher antioxidant activity than P. rhodozyma in scavenging DPPH. Conclusion The application of R. palustris in antioxidants is worth exploring.
