Chondria tumulosa isolate:ARS 09886 Genome sequencing and assembly

the aim of this project is to make the Chondria tumulosa chloroplast genome public. Although efforts are being made to trace the origin of this red alga, it is currently classified as cryptogenic. Further analysis of additional Chondria species will be necessary to elucidate the origin of C. tumulosa, and determine whether C. tumulosa is an invasive species introduced from another region, or an endemic, native alga proliferating rapidly in the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument.
