Aluminium-based Lewis Acid Catalysts for Organic Transformations

Aluminium, the most abundant metal in the Earth’s crust, is considered a sustainable choice for many applications. In this study, aluminium was used to develop catalysts (substances that speed up chemical reactions) for processes that are typically difficult but vital in producing materials like polymers, pharmaceuticals, and biomaterials. The research focused on improving the efficiency of these aluminium-based catalysts by modifying their structure. It also explored how the resulting materials successfully made through use of these catalysts, could be further transformed into other potentially useful compounds, opening new possibilities for sustainable chemical manufacturing.
