Magnetic ground state of the frustrated metal EuIr2P2 with chiral crystal structure

Frustration in intermetallic systems offers a new direction of study as novel and intriguing magnetic ground states can be stabilized. We studied the chiral system EuIr2P2 using magnetization and specific heat measurements and found two magnetic transitions at low temperature, as well as evidence of strong frustration effects. Besides, we proposed a theoretical model with competing magnetic interactions, which reproduces the observed phenomenology. The aim of this proposal is to determine the magnetic structures of EuIr2P2 to get further insights on the magnetic interactions and explore possible effects of the structural chirality on the magnetic order.
