Drug resistance profile of Mycobacterium kansasii clinical isolates before and after 2-month empirical antimycobacterial treatment

Mycobacterium kansasii (M. kansasii) pulmonary disease is frequently misdiagnosed and treated as tuberculosis (TB), especially in countries with high TB burden. This study aimed to investigate the drug susceptibility profile of M. kansasii clinical strains before antimycobacterial treatment, and to monitor their variations of drug resistance after two-month treatment, in patients with M. kansasii pulmonary disease in Shanghai.
