Targeting Tools Portal Example - Lancaster, Pennsylvania: Place-based Targeting to Achieve Multiple Benefits

<p><b>Open the Data Resource:</b> <a href='https://gis.chesapeakebay.net/targeting/lancaster/' rel='nofollow ugc'>https://gis.chesapeakebay.net/targeting/lancaster/</a></p> <p>The 2014 <i>Chesapeake Bay Watershed Agreement</i> outlines 10 goals and 31 outcomes to be achieved to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay. Many of the management strategies associated with these outcomes contain place-based implementation actions. The selection of places to implement restoration activities and conservation projects is based on many factors operating at both regional and local scales.</p> <p>This story map explains how several outcomes can be evaluated in the context of integrated, place-based decisions and how currently available tools and data can be used to target areas for multiple environmental and socioeconomic benefits. The example presented illustrates how regional screening, local targeting and high-resolution data can be combined in an overall framework to locate poential areas for restoration in Lancaster County, Pennsylania.</p>
