Challenges to adopting green and low carbon solutions in the security industry 2023

In 2023, the fact that sustainability was not a priority for most channel players and initial costs and uncertainty about return on investment constituted the main challenges to adopting green and low carbon solutions in the security industry, both highlighted by 18 percent of respondents among physical security professionals worldwide. Lack of public awareness and education as well as lack of standardization and certifications represented two other barriers, each mentioned by 17 percent of respondents. Other obstacles to adopting sustainable solutions in the security industry included limited supplier options, difficulties with following both security and environmental standards, and difficulty in selling the benefits to stakeholders.
