Population Genomics for Far-East Asian Toxoplasma gondii

Toxoplasma gondii is a global protozoan pathogen. Clonal strains predominate in Europe, North America, Africa, and China, while highly recombinant parasites are prevalent in Latin America. Far East Asian isolates of T. gondii are not included in the current WGS resolution global population genetic structure analysis. Here, we publish sequencing data obtained from a genome-wide population study comparing the T. gondii genomes of eight isolates from Japan and two isolates from China. Also included are seven genomes resurrected from non-viable isolates by targeted enrichment sequencing.
