In this study, the ozonolysis product of ethyl linoleate (OzEL) obtained by blowing ozone gas into dichloromethane was investigated. The changes observed in the peaks of the<sup>1</sup>H and<sup>13</sup>C nuclear magnetic resonance analysis confirmed the disappearance of the carbon–carbon double bonds and the production of new secondary ozonides. The main components of OzEL were determined from the peak area obtained via liquid chromatography (LC) with charged aerosol detector (CAD). The fractionated peaks were analyzed by LC–mass spectrometry, and the results indicated that all peaks contained secondary ozonide in their molecular structures. The sodium adducts exhibited more preserved structure than the ammonium adducts, indicating the presence of multiple secondary ozonides. These findings revealed differences between the ozonolysis of oleic and linoleic acids and suggested the presence of new intermediates derived from three carbon atoms sandwiched between two molozonides, which contributed to the formation of multiple secondary ozonides.
