资源简介:
The resequencing of Salix species is of interest from a contemporary conservation perspective (rare species, declining, subject to active restoration programmes), and from a paleo-ecology perspective (willows are dominant in artic core samples). Willows are known to hybridise, have interesting barcode sharing, species with identical plastid sequences that are morphologically and ecologically very different. Extensive nuclear sequence data are required to better understand the nature of species boundaries in willows, to understand the importance of introgressive hybridisation, and to allow identification of species and hybrids in conservation studies and paleo-ecological studies. This study will sample multiple individuals from each of up to 10 Salix species sampled from across their range in Britain, including some populations that are allopatric from other willows, and some populations that are sympatric with other willows. The data will be used to assess the signature in the nuclear genome of inter-specific differences and hybridisation, with a focus on the montane scrub willows in Scotland – an extremely threatened and restricted habitat type in Britain and Ireland of high conservation interest. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
