The Spinal Cord Injury - Spasticity Evaluation Tool (SCI-SET): A Hindi adaptation and validation study

This study is a cross- cultural adaptation study, Chronic SCI survivors are used to translate the scale by using a forward – backward method in accordance to guidelines of Beaton. For evaluation of Content validation the draft of the pre-final Hindi version of SCI-SET was designed via the Google form method resulted in validated version of SCI-SETH. 30 participants were used for testing the adaptability of the validated version.
Result: The Hindi version of SCI-SET (SCI-SETH) exhibited an excellent content validation index of 0.94. The criterion validity related to the SCI-SETH with the Spinal Cord Independence measure (SCIM) and Penn Spasm Frequency Scale (PSFS) calculated by Spearman’s Correlation Coefficient were 0.596, indicating moderate positive association and -0.121,indicating negative correlation with the PSFS.
Conclusion: The SCI-SETH is a valid self-rated tool for assessing the spasticity in individuals with SCI in Hindi speaking population.
