Genomic Variation Among Populations of Threatened Coral: Acropora cervicornis. Acropora cervicornis

We examined the genetic variation within and among populations of A. cervicornis using 77 individuals collected from 57 reefs along the Florida Reef Tract (FRT) and the Dominican Republic. Genetic variation was examined using genotyping by sequencing (GBS), which identified 4,764 single nucleotide polymorphic loci (SNP). This approach demonstrates the power of GBS to resolve previously unidentified differences among populations and thus inform us about evolution and conservation practices.
