NRS-17779 | Minutes of the Works Committee [Royal Newcastle Hospital]

The Works Committee was established by resolution of the Board of Directors on 7 May 1919. (1) It was allowed to lapse during the course of 1937, and a motion to reappoint members to it was defeated at the monthly meeting of the Board of Directors in December of that year. (2)The series consists of a single volume, in which are found Minutes from August 1922 onwards. Any earlier Minutes do not appear to have been preserved. Only one set of Minutes dates from later than 1934, from which (and from the paucity of references to the Committee in the Minutes of the Board of Directors and House Committee during the same period), it would appear that there was little activity by the Committee during the last two years of its existence.This volume is of the “exercise book” type, with pages in sewn gatherings between cloth-covered boards with a cloth spine. The Minutes which appear in this volume normally do so as typescript sheets pasted to its pages.
