Soil bacterial communities before and after artificial belowground isoprene exposure

A study investigating in-situ belowground isoprene degradation in soil columns after an artificial isoprene dosing period using real-time monitoring of response via PTR-TOF-MS. This work examined both chemical and microbial degradation processes, revealing initial chemical oxidation followed by enhanced microbial degradation over time. Bacterial community response to isoprene exposure was assessed by 16S amplicon sequencing to explain changing soil isoprene uptake responses.
