资源简介:
The study conducted molecular surveillance of nematode invasions from the genera Dirofilaria and Acanthocheilonema in stray dogs and cats from five war-affected regions of Ukraine. The aim was to assess the biological risk resulting from the lack of adequate prophylaxis in animals inhabiting conflict zones.A total of 457 blood samples (233 from dogs and 224 from cats) were collected from five Ukrainian cities: Lviv, Berdychiv, Zvenyhorodka, Sumy, and Kharkiv. Genomic DNA isolated from these blood samples was used to detect and differentiate infections caused by Dirofilaria repens, Dirofilaria immitis, and Acanthocheilonema reconditum using Real-Time PCR with species-specific oligonucleotides. The sensitivity of the applied method was also evaluated. The analysis included raw PCR data, such as Ct values, which were used for diagnosis and for generating figures presented in the publication. Additionally, PCR product sequences were deposited. The collected data also included information on the examined animals, such as age, sex, and body weight, which were subsequently used to analyze risk factors for filariasis in dogs.
