In this article, the theoretical and practical foundations of the competency-based approach in teaching the subject of drawing are analyzed, and its role in increasing the effectiveness of education is elucidated. In the research, the essence of the competency-based approach and its importance in forming students’ graphic literacy, spatial thinking, and practical skills are substantiated. Also, effective methods of organizing the lesson process with the help of interactive methods, modern pedagogical technologies, as well as information and communication tools are considered.
