Strategic Tuberculosis control in Viet Nam: A mathematical modelling approach

This thesis comprises four main chapters applying mathematical modelling to tuberculosis (TB) in Vietnam. A systematic review examined agent-based models, highlighting their strengths in representing individual-level heterogeneitis but limitations in TB modelling. A Bayesian spatio-temporal analysis quantified TB notifications at the lowest administrative level. A mechanistic model quantified the effects of COVID-19 disruptions and future scenarios of improved case detection. The model was further adapted to major community-wide TB screening data to estimate latency progression parameters and simulate both trial outcomes and provincial TB burden. Collectively, these studies integrate diverse modelling approaches to inform TB prevention and care strategies.
