Ario Tolumonas whole genome sequence

A stream water sample was collected from Dicks Creek on the campus of Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, North Carolina, USA on 22 August 2024. It was stored for one week at 4 degrees C then spread-plated onto an R2A media plate. A small white colony from the R2A plate was selected for isolation after a week of incubation at room temperature (~25 degrees C). The colony was streaked onto fresh R2A media until a pure culture was obtained. Sanger sequencing of its 16S rRNA identified it as belonging to the genus Tolumonas. No exact species match was obtained from GenBank and it matched poorly (<96%) to two species in the genus, including T. osonensis (NR 108829.1) and T. auensis (NR 074805.1). The isolate was sent to Plasmidsaurus, Inc. to have its whole genome sequenced using a hybrid approach of Oxford Nanopore Technology and Illumina Miniseq methods and data generated from that project are included here.
