Data for fly navigational responses exploiting plume-specific odor motion and gradient cues
收藏资源简介:
This Dandiset contains data underlying Brudner, Zhou, et al., "Fly navigational responses exploit plume-specific odor motion and gradient cues." It includes both walking-navigation behavior NWB assets and supplemental odor-plume stimulus/figure data used in the paper. The behavioral assets contain adult Drosophila melanogaster trajectories from flies responding to two structurally distinct virtual odor plumes, a spatially smooth plume and an intermittent complex plume, delivered optogenetically (CsChrimson) in a laminar-air arena. For each fly trajectory, the behavioral NWB files provide tracked 2-D position and per-frame derived signals, plus a table of detected saccade-like turning events. Data collection and analysis methods are described in the Methods section of the associated Brudner, Zhou, et al. paper; no separate protocols.io protocol URL is available at this time. The supplemental plume data include freestream and complex-plume movie/figure assets. The derived freestream plot-input asset, sub-figs1-freestream-plumes/sub-figs1-freestream-plumes_ses-figure-s1_behavior.nwb, contains compact data used to render the Supplementary Figure 1 freestream plume panels: example frames, mean vertical-gradient maps, mean vertical odor-motion cue maps, exact plotted frequency/intermittency scatter points, panel color scales, and provenance/timing metadata for the 5, 10, and 20 cm/s freestream plumes. The Dandiset additionally includes standardized 1500-frame movie windows used by the Figure S1 workflow. Freestream image assets are provided one per plume: sub-figs1-freestream-a0001/sub-figs1-freestream-a0001_ses-figure-s1_image.nwb for the 5 cm/s freestream plume, sub-figs1-freestream-a0002/sub-figs1-freestream-a0002_ses-figure-s1_image.nwb for the 10 cm/s freestream plume, and sub-figs1-freestream-a0003/sub-figs1-freestream-a0003_ses-figure-s1_image.nwb for the 20 cm/s freestream plume. Each freestream image asset stores only the 25 s standardized window used by the analysis and figure workflow: 1500 frames at 60 Hz, axes time,y,x, pixel size 0.153 mm/px, corresponding to raw H5 time 16.0-41.0 s after skipping 240 native 15 Hz frames. The full 4-minute raw H5 plume movies are not included. The freestream plume measurements underlying these assets were collected/quantified by Connor et al. in Connor, McHugh & Crimaldi, "Quantification of airborne odor plumes using planar laser-induced fluorescence" (Experiments in Fluids 59:137, 2018, https://doi.org/10.1007/s00348-018-2591-3). The complex smoke plume movie window is provided as sub-figs1-complex-smoke-1a/sub-figs1-complex-smoke-1a_ses-figure-s1_image.nwb. This asset stores the background-subtracted/preprocessed smoke_1a_orig analysis movie: 1500 frames at 60 Hz, axes time,y,x, pixel size 0.153 mm/px, corresponding to raw AVI frames 300-1799 (5.0-30.0 s). The smoke_1a_orig complex plume was analyzed throughout the paper, not only for Supplementary Figure 1. The full 3600-frame raw smoke_1a_orig AVI is not included. The smooth plume analyzed in the paper is not duplicated in this Dandiset. It is available through the Dryad dataset from Álvarez-Salvado et al., "Data from: Elementary sensory-motor transformations underlying olfactory navigation in walking fruit flies" (https://doi.org/10.5061/dryad.g27mq71), which includes the plume measurements in air. Those smooth-plume measurements were collected/quantified by Connor et al. in Connor, McHugh & Crimaldi, "Quantification of airborne odor plumes using planar laser-induced fluorescence" (Experiments in Fluids 59:137, 2018, https://doi.org/10.1007/s00348-018-2591-3).
