Building Resilience Before, During, and After Hazards Strike

Over the past two decades, our community has been bringing big data from Earth Systems ever closer to the complexity of human systems. Building the U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit and Climate.gov allowed us to road test and establish a vocabulary for applying climate science to decision making. We've developed metadata schema, templates for developing content, and gained insight into the process that business owners walk through on their path to making decisions following climate-related hazards. Our objective is to put climate tools and data into the hands of decision makers-- those who bear the majority of the costs for the billion dollar disasters that are increasingly striking our nation.
