MPs can alter the microbe community in sediment by selectively enriching bacteria, resulting in changes in nitrogen and carbon cycling. This can lead to changes in purification performances in SFCWs. This project aims to elucidate the influence of microplastics (MPs) on the microbe community, and figures out the different responses of SFCWs to MPs.
