We have employed a whole genome shotgun approach to sequence the entire genome of B. pahangi. We subsequently assembled the 87-Mb genome, which was predicted to contain nearly 10,000 protein-coding genes. Our findings provide valuable insight into the genetic makeup of B. pahangi and may contribute to the development of novel drug-based strategies for targeting filarial-based infections. The adult worms were then isolated from the tissues using a dissecting needle and transferred to a cavity block containing sterile physiological saline
