The aim of this study was to evaluate whether interactions within the dual-species biofilm increases the fitness of S. enterica. We employed an in vitro colony biofilm system for evaluating the transcriptomic response of S. enterica to co-culture with A. johnsonii, in order to determine the molecular mechanisms that drive the biocide resistance phenotype of S. enterica in co-culture.
