DNA methyltranferase Dcm, M.EcoRI, M.EcoP1I, or M.EcoP15I was expressed from their respective authentic promoter on a plasmid vector in Escherichia coli. Transcriptome was compared between the control strain carrying a vector alone and the strain carrying a vector with an insertion of a DNA methyltransferase gene from mobile genetic elements.
