Snail promotes the generation of vascular endothelium by breast cancer cells. Homo sapiens

The transcription factor Snail is a master regulator of epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Here, we performed genome-wide RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) in ZR75-1 cells stably expressing Snail or negative control cells. Our results indicated Snail inhibited the expression of epithelial markers, and promoted the expression of mesenchymal markers. Unexpectedly, ectopic expression of Snail enhanced the expression of VEGFA and endothelial markers. KEGG analysis indicated that Snail regulated the VEGF pathway. Our results support the role of Snail in endothelium generation by breast cancer cells.
