NRS-3738 | Minutes of proceedings [Berrima District Council]

These are minutes of the meetings of the District Council from its first on 26 September 1843, to the last recorded, on 3 December 1844. Of these, the last four (quarterly) meetings were attended only by the Warden and were consequently adjourned sine die. The last meeting at which business was conducted was held on 19 February 1844. The minutes indicate that committees of the Council were appointed to deal with specific matters but if records were kept of their activities they have not come to light and this is the only record of the Council known to exist. Written into the minutes are some letters to and by the Warden, and the rules and standing orders passed by the Council at the meeting held on 19 February 1844. There is no index. The whole of the series occupies 25 pages of a volume measuring approximately 25cm x 38cm x 4.5cm which was subsequently used for various non-official purposes. This volume was badly damaged by water and the relevant pages have been laminated and rebound to preserve them. The remainder of the volume has been handed to the Mitchell Library. A typescript copy of the District Council minutes and a negative microfilm of the whole volume are also in the Mitchell Library. (Kingswood 6/1040). 1 vol.
