HSV-1 strain McKrae was isolated in 1965 and has been utilized by many laboratories. Two HSV-1 strain McKrae stocks had been previously sequenced, which revealed discrepancies in key genes. We sequenced the genome of HSV-1 strain McKrae from Dr. James Hill,to better understand the genetic differences between isolates.
