NRS-13796 | Half monthly returns of applications received to purchase particular portions of Crown land

These returns which were compiled for transmission to the Colonial Secretary show the name of the person applying for the land, the date of application, the number of acres applied for, the description of the land (county, parish etc.). A copy of the Surveyor General's report as to whether the proposed sale of the land was objectionable for any reason is also given together with the Colonial Secretary's decision (nearly always confirming the report of the Surveyor General). If the land was brought forward for sale the name of the Surveyor who measured it and the catalogue number of the plan are given together with the name of the actual purchaser; as the land was sold at auction the name of the applicant and purchaser are not necessarily the same. Volume 10 contains abstracts of town allotments brought forward by the Crown at reduced prices, and volumes 11-17 are divided into town, county and suburban allotments.(7/1202-17, 9/874). 17 vols.
