NRS-17874 | Register of stay orders [Berrigan Court of Petty Sessions]

The full title of this volume is “Farmers Relief Act: Register of Stay Orders and Regulations made thereunder.” It was originally a volume for recording fees received from the registration of births, deaths and marriages. The first page was used for this purpose with registrations recorded from 1897-1899. The next few pages were then used for storing Government Gazette pages showing stay orders, but only one now remains. The remainder of the volume was adapted into an alphabetical index of names of farmers in the Berrigan district with stay orders.The actual record of stay orders is a handmade booklet and is stored in the back of the volume. It records the name and address of the farmer, the date of the stay order, the name and address of the Supervisor appointed, date of notice in the Government Gazette of intention to remove the stay order, the date of removal of the stay order, and the date the removal was recorded in the Government Gazette.
