资源简介:
The purpose of an admission register was to record basic details about children admitted to the school and their parents or guardians. The registers were also used to record the progress of the children through various classes and the date of their leaving the school. As this school was connected to the juvenile justice system at Yasmar, Bidura and possibly Lidcombe, the registers in many cases also record court information and offences. Each register in this series is in a different format and the information varies between the registers. The early registers are male only. The Bidura registers and the later Yasmar registers include both male and female children. These registers contain information pertaining to each student including: date of admission; pupil's name; court status (i.e. R [remand], C [committed], or A [appeal] or gender (depending on register), date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving. The following details are different between registers. Some of the registers recorded about the child's parents or guardians: whether they had a father and/or mother and the number of children had and residence. The last column, usually filled out with parent/guardian information, has often been crossed out and filled with offence instead. Some of the registers also include if they were discharge or transferred and the name of the institution the child was coming from/going to in these columns instead. Two of the registers (1) have a separate register in the back titled 'Register of boys admitted to shelter who are required or volunteer to attend school i.e. all boys under 15 years of age or who are designated 'school boy''. This part of the register includes- shelter admission date; name; date of birth; age; snr/jnr [Senior/Junior]; status (C [committed], R [remand], Ap [appeal]) and court or institution; offence(s); Schl. Rpt. Reqd [School. Repeat. Required]; relevant documents; remarks, including admission date to Yasmar School for Specific Purposes or reason for non-enrolment.Two of the registers (2) are handwritten notebooks with the columns number; surname; given names; m/f; age; date of birth; previous school; attending; court and date (some have "c [committed]" or "a [appeal]" as well); discharge (i.e. bailed, institution name, home); date. The name of the school not specified in these books, however, due to the date range they appear to belong to Yasmar School for Specific Purposes.Additionally, one of the registers (3) is a loose segment from an admission register that does not have the name of the school written on the pages, however, the date range would suggest that it belonged to a Bidura register. The pupil's date of admission to each subsequent grade, date of leaving the school and Admission registers in paper format ceased in 1999 when the department moved to recording enrolment details in electronic format.Endnotes1.
