DNA was isolated from the enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) sludge community from the Nine Springs Wastewater Treatment Plant in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. This analysis allowed for the determination of the near complete genome of Acinetobacter phosphatis, the principal agent in acetate-fed EBPR.
