Whole-genome sequencing of a multidrug-resistant Klebsiella oxytoca environmental isolate from an orthopedic ward in Mwanza, Tanzania

This BioProject contains short-read whole-genome sequencing data for a multidrug-resistant Klebsiella oxytoca isolate recovered from an orthopedic ward environmental surface (wheelchair handle) at a tertiary care hospital in Mwanza, Tanzania. The genome was analyzed to characterize antimicrobial resistance determinants and plasmid replicons (including high-risk IncFIB(K)/IncFII(K)) and to support comparative genomics with publicly available African K. oxytoca genomes. The dataset is intended to enable surveillance and research on hospital environmental reservoirs of antimicrobial resistance and inform infection prevention and control interventions in sub-Saharan Africa.
