Road Mortalities

The Land Stewardship team at Trent University's Symons Campus has been collecting road mortality data through surveys since 2022. These surveys are conducted from spring to fall by walking the roads and are supplemented with data from iNaturalist. The team gathers points and photographs along University-owned roads, including Woodland Road, Pioneer Road, Nassau Mills, and University Drive, with plans to potentially expand to other roads in the future. The goal of this data collection is to identify locations on roadways with high mortality rates (statistically significant hot spots) and to determine which species are affected.
