Panel Data: Section 301 Tariff Exposure and Manufacturing Outcomes (NAICS-4, 2015–2023)
收藏资源简介:
Description: This dataset contains the monthly NAICS-4 industry panel underlying "Where Do Tariff Shocks Propagate? Evidence on Production, Prices, and Shipments from Section 301 China Tariffs" (Sosa, working paper, 2026). The panel combines six public data sources to study the effect of the 2018–2019 U.S. Section 301 tariffs on Chinese imports across three manufacturing outcome measures. Outcome panels: log_ppi — producer price index (BLS API), 77 NAICS-4 clusters log_ip — industrial production index (FRED API), 31 NAICS-4 clusters log_shipments_nom — nominal shipments (Census M3 API), 85 NAICS-4 clusters Treatment and control variables: exp_dtariff_tv — continuous, time-varying Section 301 tariff exposure, constructed from USITC DataWeb tranche dates and industry import shares world_pen — world (non-China) import penetration, from WTO Tariff Data and BEA shipments data china_pen — China import penetration, used as an alternative control dimension Coverage: approximately 2015–2023, NAICS-4 industry by calendar month. Full variable construction formulas and definitions are provided in Appendix A4 of the associated manuscript. Data is provided as-is for replication and transparency purposes.
