Immunization schedule for Experiment #1

Five monkeys in each of four vaccine groups were immunized and challenged with Pk malaria sporozoites. ‘Pk4’ refers to four Pk antigens (PkCSP, PkSSP2, PkAMA1, and PkMSP1). ‘DNA’ indicates plasmid vaccines in PBS. ‘PLG’ indicates plasmid vaccines complexed to PLG particles. ‘COPAK’ indicates vaccinia encoding malaria antigen. Animals in the Control group received a mock vaccine consisting of plasmid without malaria inserts complexed to PLG particles followed by parental COPAK without malaria inserts.
