The Desulfotomaculum hydrothermale Lam5(T) strain is a strictly anaerobic moderately thermophilic sulfate-reducing bacterium isolated from a hot spring in North East Tunisia (Haouari O. et al., Int J Syst Evol Microbiol., 58 : 2529-2535, 2008). The sequencing project aims to address various aspects of its metabolism, including with respect to arsenic and metals.
