NRS-21463 | Registers of volunteer fire staff attached to country brigades

These volumes are registers of volunteer fire staff attached to country brigades, including, in some volumes, ACT brigades. They list officers appointed between approximately 1903 and 1990 and annotations suggest they were maintained between the years 1947 and 1990.The registers are arranged alphabetically by name of brigade. For each brigade, the authorised strength; and often the actual number of men is recorded, as well as the district, zone and address of the station. Some volumes also record the retaining fees applying to the brigade.For each officer listed, the register records, as applicable: positions held (e.g. Captain, Engine keeper), name, address, occupation, date of appointment, married or single, date of birth, date appointed to the Reserve Corps, other service, and dates awards received. There are also Left Brigade and Remarks columns which, combined, normally provide a reason for and date of leaving the brigade, as well as other information.Entries can be typescript or handwritten and there are many annotations, additions and corrections.
