Large-scale sequencing of full-length cDNAs and clone distribution.. Homo sapiens

A consortium of eight DNA sequencing laboratories and one of Germany's leading bioinformatics institutes was founded in September 1997 within the German Human Genome Project (DHGP). The aim of this project is to characterize a large set of cDNA clones not yet identified in other projects; over 3200 have been sequenced to date. Clones from chromosome-specific libraries and tissue-specific libraries enriched in full-length clones generated at the DKFZ are characterized by partial sequence analysis (EST sequencing). Selection of clones for full-length sequencing is based on the EST data that are analyzed at MIPS. Reagents are available through RZPD.
