资源简介:
This series comprises transcripts and correspondence files relating to the 1947 Royal Commission of Inquiry into Electricity Supply. The purpose of the Royal Commission was to inquire into the production of electricity by authorities generating it in Victoria. The terms of reference asked for a report on the adequacy of existing means and method of electricity production, and on the structure, organization and contribution of the SEC with regard to its efficiency. (D.H. Borchardt, Checklist of Royal Commissions, Select Committees of Parliament and Boards of Inquiry, Part III, Sydney, 1970, p.205.)One of the recommendations the Royal Commission, in relation to the inadequacy of the production of electricity to meet users needs, resulted in the establishment of a subsequent Board of Inquiry into the most efficient method of supplying electricity to rural areas. The files contain inward and copies of outward correspondence, newspaper clippings copies of statements and submissions made by the senior officer of the SEC to the Royal Commission and subsequent Board of Inquiry. Some copies of the transcripts of hearings of the Royal Commission and sets of questions addressed to the SEC are also contained in this series. For related records see VPRS 8892/P1, P2 and VPRS 2968.
