资源简介:

This study investigates the impact of ionizing gamma radiation on the germination, physiological, biochemical, and genetic characteristics of two important crops: Zea mays (L.) and Cucumis sativus (L.). Seeds of both species were exposed to 10 different doses of gamma radiation ranging from 100 Gy to 1000 Gy using a cobalt-60 source. The effects on seed germination, chlorophyll content, peroxidase activity, lipid peroxidation, growth parameters, and DNA integrity were assessed. The results reveal dose-dependent changes in germination rates, oxidative stress markers, and DNA damage, indicating that high doses of radiation adversely affect plant development. This study contributes to understanding plant responses to radiation, relevant to both environmental monitoring and crop improvement programs.
